Challenge Summary
There is no availability of an electronic/computerized measurement solution to calculate the volume of excavated Chrome Ore in the mining region. The expected improvement is to achieve 100% Accuracy which is currently 75% using conventional measurement tools.
Challenge Scenario
In the mining regions, the excavation process is carried out by excavators & Soil containing the chrome ore are loaded onto trucks. The quantity of excavated ore is measured in terms of the volume of earth removed from the site.
To calculate the weight of the materials transferred from one location to other 20% trucks of total trips are passed through the weighbridge and further average data is taken for the rest of the trucks.
Currently measuring is done manually using measurement tapes which are very inefficient and are only 75% accurate. The computation of volume is also carried out manually. This results in inaccurate and inconsistent data.
